Green is the new black. Black Friday, that is, which is why we’re skipping the chaos and giving you early access to the best eco-friendly Black Friday deals from ethical brands in 2025.

Black Friday and Cyber Monday have become one of the most wasteful shopping events of the year. In 2024 alone, 81.7 million people shopped in-store and 87.3 million shopped online, spending a whopping $74.5 billion globally and generating untracked millions of tons of packaging waste, CO₂ emissions, and landfill-bound returned items.

While the most sustainable choice is to skip the sales altogether, we get it. Times are tough and in a world of ever-rising prices, sometimes a sale is the difference between being able to buy better or even buy at all.

Instead of supporting fast fashion sales that flood closets with cheaply made garments that won’t be around by next Black Friday, it’s more important than ever to turn our thrifty sights on ethical and eco-friendly Black Friday deals instead (if you must shop at all).

Whether you’re on the hunt for non-toxic gifts or simply need to upgrade your kitchen with non-toxic cookware, Black Friday and Cyber Monday can support better labor practices and lasting products. Every mindful purchase is a small but powerful vote toward a better system.

To get started, make a list and commit to buying only what you need. Don’t be tempted by the deal alone! We’ll also cover how to shop more ethically this Black Friday (scroll to the end of the article) and what to look for in better brands (from fair labor practices to responsible materials and credible certifications).

Many of the sustainable shopping deals we’ve rounded up below come from brands we’ve rated as part of our Brand Rating System, have signed up to be in our directory or interviewed for our podcast, and many of them are on products personally tested by either me, our co-founders (Joy & Lyall), or one of our other fabulous expert sustainability writers.

They’re offering up to 20% off with the discount being applied in tiers based on the order amount (the bigger the order, the more the discount, scaling form 10%-20%). I’d use this opportunity to pick up some plastic-free cutting boards, kitchen utensils and stainless steel cookware (Joy is testing these items at the moment so watch this space on how they perform).

Just pick the Zero Waste Box™ that suits your home, fill it up with the bits and bobs that tend to accumulate, then send it back with the included prepaid shipping label. They’ll recycle everything for you. I’d personally go for the All-In-One Zero Waste Box™, but they also have more specific options like the Beauty Products & Packaging Box™ if you want to target a single waste stream.

Why Choose Ethical Black Friday Brand Deals & Tips For Sustainable Deals

Let’s address the (white) elephant in the room. Black Friday is not just the biggest day for saving money; It’s also the biggest day for unnecessary purchases and overconsumption. The limited-time offers of Black Friday and Cyber Monday lead to mindless purchases on the basis of missing out. Single-use plastic, cardboard boxes, bags, and other unsustainable materials show up on doorstep after doorstep, all producing additional carbon emissions from transportation.

And what happens if a new gadget comes scratched? It likely gets returned where it ends up in landfills, contributing to an additional 15 million metric tons of carbon dioxide. The negative impact is even more apparent for apparel, with the fashion industry being one of the most carbon intensive industries.

Shopping consciously on Black Friday is about supporting brands that do better for people and the natural environment, because each purchase is a quiet protest against business as usual. If you truly need to buy something (more on this below), choosing ethical Black Friday brands and eco-friendly Cyber Monday Deals is how we turn consumer power into progress.

Materials Matter

Whether it’s non-organic cotton, virgin polyester, chemically treated wood, or synthetic nonstick coatings, conventional production uses pesticides, plastics, and toxins that pollute water, damage ecosystems, and harm human health. Choosing organic, recycled, plant-based materials, and long-lasting materials reduces pollution and protects biodiversity (read more about why biodiversity loss matters).

People Matter

Many supply chains still rely on dangerous factories and underpaid labor. Few brands fully disclose working conditions or wages. Supporting ethical brands helps fund fair wages, safer workplaces, and better lives for the people who make our products.

The Natural Environment Matters

Fast production and overconsumption drive deforestation, pollution, and climate change. The more we buy thoughtlessly, the greater the toll. Opting for eco-friendly Black Friday deals and durable products cuts waste and supports companies taking meaningful climate action.

Tips For A More Sustainable Black Friday

While the most sustainable choice is to opt out of these reindeer games altogether, you can still save money and the planet at the same time by following these tips for sustainable Black Friday sales:

  1. Only Buy What You Need: Don’t get caught up in the hype of limited-time sales and let yourself be persuaded into spontaneous and irresponsible purchases. Purchase items you need or have already planned to pick up. It can be helpful to make a list of what you’re going to buy ahead of time, so you can hold yourself accountable.
  2. Green Friday: This means purchasing products from responsible brands using sustainable or recycled materials, carbon offsetting practices, and ethical production practices. You’ll want to forgo any fast fashion pieces (AKA please don’t buy from Shein and the like) or useless gadgets and gizmos in favor of timeless, long-lasting, and eco-friendly products.
  3. Giving Tuesday: While you can give back any day of the week, Giving Tuesday falls on December 2nd. This annual celebration of generosity encourages you to give back with whatever you can (food, money, second-hand objects, or time). If you purchased new cookware on Black Friday, donate your previous pots and pans to someone in need. Or, contribute some of your time to your local community. You can find an entire network of nonprofits, community initiatives, and projects in your area celebrating Giving Tuesday if you need ideas.

What Makes A Cyber Monday Or Black Friday Deals Ethical & How We Chose These Brands

Unfortunately, we don’t have a single, succinct definition of an “ethical or non-toxic Black Friday deal” for you, but we do have a set of rigorous environmental and social responsibility standards we’ve developed that we assess brands by to ensure materials are safe and sustainable, production methods are fair and transparent, and products are made to last.

At Sustainable Jungle, we know that marketing claims can be misleading, so we look for proof over promises. So when possible, we prioritize brands we’ve rated in our own brand rating system or personally tested for quality, function, and durability. These are the products we know perform well in real life and that we can confidently recommend.

Here are a few key things we looked for when selecting the best ethical Black Friday deals:

  • Materials: No matter the product, we look for natural materials that have lower impact from seed to shelf to end-of-life. For example, when it comes to clothing, organic cotton, hemp, linen, and TENCEL™ lyocell are our fashion favorites, along with any other renewable and compostable fibers. For furniture, we like sustainably-sourced and certified woods treated with non-toxic, VOC-free finishes. For cookware, we make sure it’s made of something non-toxic like stainless steel, or cast iron, and personal care products should feature all-natural, mineral or plant-based ingredients that are ideally organically grown.
  • Ethical Production: Fair labor practices, safe working conditions, and transparent supply chains.
  • Low-Impact Processes: Use of natural or OEKO-TEX® certified dyes, carbon-conscious shipping, and minimal or plastic-free packaging.
  • Longevity and Repairability: Unless we’re talking about something consumable like personal care or cleaning products, we want things designed to last longer and reduce waste over time.

Eco-Friendly & Ethical Certifications To Look For:

We also give preference to brands that use certified materials or have independent verifications to back up their sustainability claims. Transparency about where and how products are made is equally important, especially for smaller or artisan businesses that may not have formal certifications yet. Here are some certifications we seek:

  • Textiles: GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard), OEKO-TEX®, RWS (Responsible Wool Standard)
  • Cookware & Homewares: GreenGuard Gold, MADE SAFE®, GOLS (Global Organic Latex Standard), FSC (Forest Stewardship Council),
  • Beauty & Personal Care: EWG Verified, EPA Safer Choice
  • Fair Labor & Trade: Fair Trade Certified™, B Corp, WFTO (World Fair Trade Organization), WRAP (Worldwide Responsible Accredited Production), BSCI (Business Social Compliance Initiative)

FAQs About Ethical Black Friday & Cyber Monday

Is Black Friday ethical?

Black Friday is not inherently ethical. The shopping event often promotes overconsumption, fast fashion, and products made with harmful materials or under poor labor conditions. However, it can be approached ethically by choosing brands that prioritize sustainability, fair labor practices, and long-lasting products.

How can I shop ethically on Black Friday & Cyber Monday?

Shopping ethically on Black Friday means planning purchases, buying only what you truly need, and prioritizing brands that use eco-friendly materials, follow fair labor practices, and design durable products. Look for certifications like GOTS, OEKO-TEX®, Fair Trade, or MADE SAFE®, support companies with transparent supply chains, and consider alternatives like second-hand or upcycled items to reduce waste while still enjoying the sales.

How can I find eco-friendly Cyber Monday deals on clothing?

Most brands (even more sustainable brands) will offer some sort of sale come Black Friday time. Look for brands on this list, in our directory, or those that use certified sustainable fabrics like organic cotton, hemp, TENCEL™ lyocell, recycled fibers, or plant-based alternatives. Certifications such as GOTS, OEKO-TEX®, and Fair Trade can help verify ethical production practices. Buying from these brands ensures you’re still saving a little money, while also reducing environmental harm and supporting fair labor practices.

Final Thoughts On Eco-Friendly Cyber Monday Deals & Black Friday 2025

Black Friday and Cyber Monday don’t have to be a time of excessive waste. There are countless brands offering do-good discounts through sustainable materials, recyclable packaging, carbon offsets, and charitable contributions.

Make a list before you shop and check it twice to be sure you’re not buying anything unnecessary. This saves you money, prevents waste, and ensures the products entering your life are precisely what you want.
