About Nest Bedding

Beyond mattresses, the brand offers pillows, protectors, bedding sets, blankets, comforters, furniture, pet beds, and other home products, and has showrooms in California, Texas, Minnesota, Illinois, and Ohio.

Rating Summary

Nature & Animals

Nest Bedding’s products are made with a high proportion of sustainable materials, including organic cotton, TENCEL™ lyocell, natural latex foam, bamboo lyocell and recycled plastic waste (used in pet beds). Other materials include wool, mulberry silk, bamboo viscose, virgin polyester (in select pillow covers and upholstery), TPU lamination (in mattress protectors), and polyurethane foam in mattresses—though the latter is CertiPUR-US® certified. Furniture pieces like bed frames are made from 100% ash wood with a non-toxic water-based finish, 100% Moso bamboo, or untreated pine with woven polyester blend upholstery.

While the brand does not have a centralized water reduction program, several manufacturing partners employ water-conscious practices, including repurposing wastewater from a reverse osmosis (RO) plant, using an EVAP circulation and filtration system to recycle and reuse water for factory cooling, and filtering stormwater runoff to remove pollutants.

Chemical impact is considered through the use of organic cotton, CertiPUR-US® certified foam, and OEKO-TEX® textiles, alongside the avoidance of chemical flame retardants. Nest Bedding partners with responsible manufacturers but does not yet formally track or provide detailed information on the chemical processes involved in producing certain materials like viscose and foam.

Many bedding items are packaged in reusable cotton bags or fabric wraps made from the same materials as the products, avoiding polybags. Mattresses are compressed and rolled in two layers of plastic. Shipping cardboard is made with recycled content.

Waste reduction efforts include recycling office waste and donating deadstock or unsold products to charity, though there are no formal waste tracking systems or reduction targets in place. The Lifetime Renewal Exchange (LRE) program lets customers replace the comfort layer of select mattresses to extend product life.

The brand offsets carbon emissions from final-mile deliveries but has not yet set a carbon baseline or formal targets. It is in early discussions with Change Climate to develop a complete emissions profile and identify carbon reduction strategies.

Wool is sourced from New Zealand, where mulesing is not practiced, and some wool is RWS-certified. However, there is no formal animal welfare policy in place.

All mattresses are assembled in the USA. Reviews & Testing From Our Team

Review of Nest Bedding's Organic Cotton Waterproof Mattress Protector
Organic Cotton Waterproof Mattress Protector

The Nest Bedding Organic Cotton Mattress Protector is impressively soft and quiet with no annoying crinkly sounds when I move around. It fits snugly on my deep mattress and gives me peace of mind knowing spills (as I am regularly known to do) won’t soak through and damage my mattress. Plus, I've been testing it out right in the height of summer and I find it doesn't trap heat like some other protectors I’ve tried.

Review of Nest Bedding's Sateen Organic Cotton Sheets
Sateen Organic Cotton Sheets

I got the sheet set in lovely warm terracotta color but that's the only thing warm about these. I've been testing them in summer time, and find this sheet set buttery soft, breathable, and cooling even in my hot bedroom loft, which makes sliding into bed at night such a treat. I love that it comes with four pillowcases—finally, no more mismatched pillows on the bed! My only tiny complaint is that the fitted sheet doesn’t label the top or bottom, so there’s sometimes a bit of fumbling when making the bed.
