All of its cruelty-free products are crafted locally in LA using a blend of safe, carefully selected non-toxic synthetics and natural botanicals—some of which are organic or sourced from regenerative farms. The brand prioritizes transparency, environmental responsibility, and ethical sourcing at every stage of its operations.
Activist has earned a loyal following for its gentle yet effective formulas, and at the time of writing, is our top-rated brand in the Beauty & Personal Care category.
About Activist Skincare
Activist Skincare was founded in 2017 by Allison Callaway, with a mission to create clean, effective skincare products rooted in deep care for both skin and the planet. Motivated by a lifelong commitment to sustainability and her own experience managing acne, Allison began formulating products in her kitchen.
While the brand has grown, all products are still made in small batches directly by the Activist team to ensure transparency, ingredient integrity, and ethical production. Activist also prioritizes partnerships with women- and BIPOC-owned businesses and is a proud member of 1% for the Planet.

Review Summary From Other Customers
Pros
- Customers consistently praise Activist’s use of organic, plant-based actives—free from parabens, synthetic fragrances, and harsh chemicals—for supporting skin health.
- The brand’s glass packaging and aluminum refill pouches are widely appreciated for reducing waste and enabling recycling.
- Serums like Active Hydration Vitamin C+ and Calming Force are highly rated for their effective, high-performance active ingredients.
- Many customers note that their skin feels brighter, smoother, and more hydrated over time—particularly those with sensitive or combination skin—without experiencing irritation.
Cons
- Some customers feel the products are relatively expensive, though many believe the quality and results justify the price.
- A few reviewers note a lack of targeted solutions for specific concerns. However, Activist Skincare notes that they do offer both an acne-specific serum and products for aging. Activist also believe that hyper targeted skincare products are largely based on marketing and fewer, simpler formulations that address underlying concerns are a more sustainable option.
