About JulieMay

JulieMay was founded by BIPOC female Tiffany Chiu in 2018, after her mother Julie began to experience heightened skin sensitivities. Finding a gap in the market for hypoallergenic intimates, Tiffany stopped pursuing her law degree at the University of Edinburgh to develop her lingerie line full-time. Since then, the brand has expanded to a range of styles and also has a small sleepwear line, all of which come highly rated and well-reviewed by their global customer base.

Rating Summary

Nature & Animals

Materials used are predominantly organic GOTS-certified cotton and mulberry peace silk, which is sourced from China. JulieMay currently has no animal welfare policy and does not do any direct auditing of the silk production. Some spandex is used in elastics and is covered with organic cotton. The Hong Kong-based factory is monitored by an annual audit and certified by ISO14001 Water & Energy Efficiency. The brand says no harsh chemicals or bleach are used in dying, and water and waste are saved; however, no further detail, direct targets, or tracking mechanisms are provided. JulieMay uses paper bags and hemp strings for packaging. There are no certifications in place for the sourcing of the packaging materials. The brand limits overproduction, given use of smaller production runs and they reuse some textile waste to make into bra bows. Donations of discontinued items are made to charities such as Uncommon Threads in the US and Smalls for All in the UK. Bras can be recycled through Bra Recyclers if customers live in the US, Canada, or Puerto Rico although this option is not communicated at a product level. JulieMay offsets some of its emissions via Greenspark.

There is no clear disclosure on who the factory is run by, or any documentation of third-party audits. The brand has a published supplier code of conduct that requires fair wages, safe working conditions, and zero tolerance of modern slavery, plus continuous training for employees. Reasonable privacy and digital measures are in place for consumers, as well as inclusive product marketing. The brand is BIPOC and female-owned, operated by founder Tiffany and a single employee, who is provided numerous additional benefits beyond a living wage.

Reviews & Testing From Our Team

Marrow - High Waisted Silk & Organic Cotton Full Brief in Pink Champagne

Big, full, ultra supportive briefs are my jam and these do not disappoint. I've loved testing these briefs from JulieMay and in particular have enjoyed their shaping qualities. While too pretty to be super active in, I think they would hold up extremely well to all kinds of movements. I'm not sure how JulieMay has made big undies sexy but they have - the silk touch makes one feel feminine and comfortable at the same time. 5 stars on product performance from me.

Rosie - Silk & Organic Cotton Lace Full Cup Wireless Bra

The Rosie bra is a subtly sexy, piece of lingerie that I'm finding is comfortable enough to wear everyday. The silk and organic cotton make this bra soft and sensual on my skin and it looks beautiful on. Having said that, this bra would better suit someone with a fuller bust as my A cups don't do it justice. I've also been testing JulieMay's Back Support Full Coverage Wireless Organic Cotton bra in black and found this to be perfectly suited to my smaller bust.
