About Eucalypso

Eucalypso was founded in 2018 by Elle Liu, who sought a solution to her struggles with night sweats and skin irritations caused by traditional bedding. After researching various materials, she discovered the benefits of eucalyptus-derived TENCEL™ Lyocell, valued for its breathability, softness, and eco-friendly properties.

This inspired the creation of Eucalypso, a brand dedicated to providing luxurious, sustainable bedding designed for comfort and performance. Since its inception, Eucalypso has prioritized transparency, quality, and community, earning a loyal following for its high-quality products.

Rating Summary

Nature & Animals

All of Eucalypso’s bedding products are made from 100% TENCEL™ Lyocell, derived from wood pulp and processed in a closed-loop system that recycles over 99% of water and solvents. Products carry multiple third-party certifications, including STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX®, USDA Certified Biobased, FSC®, and PEFC.

Through its exclusive use of TENCEL™, Eucalypso minimizes water use and wastewater impact. While the brand itself does not track water consumption or set reduction targets, TENCEL™ production facilities are ISO 14001:2015 certified for environmental management, ensuring monitoring of water use and discharge quality.

The FSC® and PEFC certifications verify that the wood pulp used in TENCEL™ Lyocell is not sourced from ancient, endangered, or illegally logged forests, and supports responsible forestry and biodiversity protection.

The closed-loop TENCEL™ Lyocell process is inherently low in chemical use, reusing 99% of solvents and employing a non-toxic organic solvent (NMMO). The brand works exclusively with suppliers that hold environmental and chemical safety certifications. Finished fabrics are OEKO-TEX® certified and dyed using low-impact, non-toxic dyes by mills certified to ISO 14001 and part of the Responsible Care® chemical industry initiative.

Packaging is minimal, low-waste, and mostly plastic-free, using recycled cardboard mailers and boxes with paper-based tape that are recyclable or compostable. The brand is working to phase out the residual plastic elements, such as label backings and protective films.

Eucalypso minimizes waste through small-batch production, donations or repurposing of returns and imperfect items, reuse of shipping materials, and digitalized office operations. Partner factories optimize pattern layouts and recycle fabric offcuts. All products are fully compostable at end of life, though no take-back program is currently offered.

While Eucalypso has not disclosed its carbon footprint or set emissions targets, it reduces impact through low-carbon material choices, shipment consolidation, reduced packaging volume, and partnerships with ISO 14001-certified manufacturers. Its operations employ energy-efficient lighting and HVAC systems.

All products are 100% vegan.
