What if, instead of wrapping up something someone might not want, we wrap up the gift of a more sustainable and just world? When you buy fair trade gifts, you do just that.

At a minimum, you’re supporting workers who have been paid fairly for their labor and have safe and equitable working conditions. Many fair trade brands go beyond that with practices that uplift employees such as education, training, and healthcare programs.

Okay, you still have to do the gift-choosing part and that’s why we’ve put together this list of fair trade gifts, to make that task easier! Whether you’re looking for options for Christmas, birthdays, or housewarmings or you’re looking to treat yourself, we’ll help you find the perfect present for any occasion.

We independently research all featured brands and we ask them to confirm their claims. In many cases we personally review recommended products. This post contains affiliate links which means we may earn a commission if you buy something. Learn more here.

Pajamas

Price Range: $25–$76

Pact offers sustainable sleepwear for the whole family, including the little ones. The Dream Big Pajamas for children come decked out in classic buffalo check and birch tree printed GOTS-certified organic cotton fabric. Naturally, the Dream Bigger Pajamas are adult-sized counterparts. If you want to give the grown ones something more subtle, the versatile and solid-colored Cool Stretch Lounge Set is more likely to be worn all year long.

Whatever the choice, you can sleep easy knowing they’re made in a Fair Trade Certified Factory in India.

My Personal Review of Pact’s Pajamas:

“I tested a classic button-up Pact Pajama top in an Apricot color. It is super duper long on me so I’ve ended up wearing it mostly as a nightie. It’s lovely and soft and very comfortable to sleep in. I also tried the Pact Pajama pants in Charcoal and found them very comfortable to sleep in with the very soft fabric feeling great on my skin. Unfortunately, they were way, way too long for me (I’m 5’2″) so I have not defaulted to them as a favorite but still wear them quite often.”

Coffee

Price Range: $11–$32

Struggling to find the perfect fair trade gift to espresso how much someone means to you? It’s a tall order, but that’s where fair trade coffee comes in.

Atlas Coffee Club is like a world tour in a cup, delivering coffee from some of the most unique, single-origin farms across the globe. They operate on an easy-to-alter and cancel subscription service. Each month, they highlight a new country with beans that showcase the distinctive flavors and character of that region. It’s not just about the coffee; every delivery includes tasting notes and brewing tips, making every cup an experience. For anyone who loves to explore through flavor, Atlas Coffee Club is a passport to amazing coffee.

My Personal Review of Atlas Coffee Club’s Coffee Beans:

“I sampled one of their monthly Peruvian roasts, a medium-dark roast that’s grown in high altitudes which, if you didn’t know, provides a slower growth cycle that helps make the beans less acidic—giving it a smoother taste that will also sit lighter on the stomach and teeth. My gut is extremely sensitive to acidic foods, so this is something I really notice compared to standard, mass-grown coffees. Plus, I can’t say no to the subtle caramel notes!”

Bedding

Price Range: $59–$499

Nest Bedding combines comfort with peace of mind through sustainable and natural bedding options. While their bamboo options aren’t fair trade, any of their organic cotton options are both fair trade and GOTS-certified.

Because it’s winter and those of us in the Northern Hemisphere are freezing right about now, consider giving the gift of warmth in the form of their machine-washable wool comforter. Made with soft, breathable wool and a fair trade organic cotton cotton casing it’s not only cozy but easy to care for. No one likes a gift that ends up being a lot of work, after all, and with this one, all they have to do is toss it in the washer when it needs a refresh.

My Personal Review of Nest Bedding’s Washable Wool Comfort:

“If you’re looking for an organic wool comforter, I can’t recommend the Washable Wool Comforter enough. Featuring a super soft 300 thread count organic cotton comforter cover, stuffed with 250-GSM of washable wool, this is one heavy-duty and durable comforter I trust will grace our bed for years to come. I live in a cold climate, so we especially love it in the winter months, but it’s also suitable for year-round use. I also love that it comes with a sturdy zipped storage bag, so I can keep it clean and safe in storage when not in use (though that’s turned out to be fairly rare!). Because we so often use the comforter now, the bag also makes for a handy tote and storage for other stuff.”

Cookware

Price Range: $60–$1,045

In addition to gift shopping, there’s probably another thing on your priority list as we approach the holiday season: eating. You can’t beat gathering with friends and family to enjoy the gift of good food so why not impress the chef or foodie in your life with something for their kitchen?

There’s something especially satisfying about cookware that does it all, and Our Place’s Always Pan 2.0 is exactly that. It’s a frying pan, a steamer, a skillet, and even a saucier, all in one sleek, space-saving design. From sautéing veggies on its non-toxic non-stick ceramic coating to boiling pasta or steaming dumplings, this pan truly lives up to its “always” name.

My Personal Review of Our Place’s Always Pan 2.0:

“The Always Pan is basically the MVP of my kitchen—and honestly, I can’t imagine cooking without it. This thing does everything. It replaces eight different types of cookware and works on any cooktop, which makes cooking so much easier. I use it every single day. I’m obsessed with stir-fries and Asian-style dishes, and this pan is ideal for that kind of cooking.

I also added the bamboo steamer basket to go with it. The pan comes with its own metal steamer insert (which I also use for rinsing fruits and veggies), but the bamboo one is perfect for steaming things that can’t handle too much heat—like steamed buns.”

Beauty Products

Price Range: $4–$29

Sustainable beauty products made in fair working conditions were an easy inclusion in this list.

Meow Meow Tweet creates everything a person needs for their personal care routine, from aluminum-free deodorants to face cleansers and acne spot serums. They’re all crafted with organic ingredients, many of which—including some of their most-used, like cocoa butter, shea butter, sugar, coconut oil, and coffee—are also certified fair trade.

My Personal Review of Meow Meow Tweet’s Coconut Cacao Lip Balm:

“I love MMT’s Coconut Cacao vegan lip balm. It comes in a bigger-than-usual tube and smells delicious. It feels smooth and luxurious going on and I love that it includes fair trade ingredients. Just don’t do what I did and leave your tube in direct sunlight as I’ve managed to melt mine and it’s not quite the same anymore (lumpy!) and difficult to get out. Very sad!”

Slippers

Price Rage: $49–$94

For a wooly wonderful gift, wrap up a pair of special felted slippers from Certified B Corp Baabuk. Some of the SJ’s team’s personal favorites, these super cozy slippers are made with just four materials: water, wool, soap, and natural latex by Nepalese artisans who receive fair wages for their work. The New Zealand wool is mulesing-free, and the natural latex is sustainably harvested. Our team members say they’ve never felt better with the classic Mel steppers, available in over ten beautiful colors.

If these options don’t tickle your twinkling holiday toes, explore Nootkas. These hand-felted shoes are also courtesy of responsibly sourced New Zealand Wool and a Fair Trade Certified Factory in Nepal. The stylish Astoria House Slippers are warm, breathable, and naturally odor-resistant.

My Personal Review of Baabuk’s Mel Slipper:

“If you’re after slippers that will keep your feet super warm, I can’t recommend the Mel Slippers enough. They’re incredibly light, but the soft, non-itchy wool keeps my feet cozy, which is seriously impressive, considering we live in a tiny house on a trailer in a location that gets freezing in the winter. We’re talking temperatures well below zero. That means my floor gets COLD, so I pretty much live in slippers during these months.”

Underwear

Price Range: $14–$45

What better fair trade gift for her (or him) under the tree than some new organic underwear?

Subset’s earth-loving basics are made with 95% GOTS-certified organic cotton and 5% spandex. Privates can feel extra proud knowing they’re covered in something made in an organic fair trade factory in India.

If your loved one is looking for something a bit silkier and more moisture-wicking for active use, Boody‘s bamboo undies might be the better choice. They’re made from responsibly harvested bamboo that’s processed using non-toxic solvents in a closed-loop system. No greenwashing from this bamboo brand!

My Personal Review of Subset’s Mid-Rise Retro Brief:

“I wear Subset religiously and especially adore this cut of their undies, thanks to the higher (but not too high!) waist that gives my tummy a little extra tuck. I really appreciate the little design details of their stuff, like the fully elastic, wrapped organic cotton hems along both the waist and leg openings with provide a super smooth and pinch-free fit.”

Rugs

Price Range: $29–$3,700

Why not floor someone with a handcrafted fair trade rug from Lorena Canals.

Particularly one made entirely from fabric scraps from their Rugcycled Collection. Both sustainable and ethical, the Bohemian designs make a darling addition to any fair trade living space. Lorena Canals controls the entire production process from start to finish, ensuring there are no unethical business values being swept under the rug.

My Personal Review of Lorena Canals’ Woolable Rug in Autumn Breeze:

“I have been testing the Woolable Rug in Autumn Breeze for around 10 months and I love how it looks in our lounge. Its shaggy vibe is cozy and comfy and I enjoy sitting on it to play with my son – especially comforting given it is non-toxic and made from RWS Certified wool.

“I probably wouldn’t opt for a shaggy rug like this again with a toddler in the house (I’d wait until he is older) – combined with the dog hair makes it a bit tricky to clean. It is machine washable which is great (though my machine is a little too small). I’ve found it has shed a few strands of wool (probably again from the toddler) and I would stay it works better in a spot where you don’t need to rely on an underlay as much.”

Jewelry

Price Range: $78–$298

SOKO is one of our favorite artisan jewelry brands for guilt-free accessorizing with stunning pieces like the Njia Dangle Hoops, which are big enough to make a statement, but still classy and down-to-earth with their hammered gold texture and organic shape.

With a passion for both the planet and the people, the brand was founded to protect the rights of artisan communities in Kenya by providing global market access to those who wouldn’t be able to support their families otherwise. All of their pieces are creatively handcrafted from otherwise wasted materials, like upcycled brass, reclaimed horns and bones, and excess wood cut-offs.

Scarves

Price Range: $24–$48

Ethically made accessories always make for a thoughtful gift for your fellow fair trade fashionistas, and where better to find one than from one of our top-rated fashion brands?

Passion Lilie isn’t just disrupting the fashion industry through a commitment to transparency, traditional cultural handcrafting methods, and organic materials, but they’re also disrupting the stereotype of a dull winter wardrobe with a fun and colorful collection of scarves to add a flash of color to those winter blue and greys. The unique Red Kutch Scarf is not only gorgeously crafted, but it’s red pom pom fringe adds to the festive feel of the holidays, too. It’s also large enough to unfold into a shawl, giving it even more uses in one piece.

My Personal Review of Passion Lilie’s Raina Modal Scarf:

“I’ve personally worn the Rain Modal Scarf and it’s become a warm-weather go-to when I need to jazz up an outfit just a little. Instead of Passion Lilie’s usual mainstay—organic cotton—it’s made of modal, a plant-based sustainable fabric that’s a lightweight silk alternative, so it’s perfect for adding a little extra drapey elegance to both casual and more dressy outfits.”

Chocolate

Price Range: $40–$80

How many gifts suit all occasions? Not many, but ethical chocolate is one of our sweet staples.

Equal Exchange chocolate is a delicious and thoughtful gift for any chocolate lover, especially with unique flavors like Dark Chocolate Lemon Ginger with Black Pepper (yum!). Our testers can say from experience that their dark chocolates are divine, but even if your loved one’s palette is a bit more white bread (or in this case, milk chocolate), they’re still getting something crafted with fair trade cacao sourced from small-scale farmers.

Pro tip: If you gift a baker some of their chocolate chips, maybe you’ll luck out and get some cookies made with them in exchange!

My Personal Review of Equal Exchange’s Extreme Dark Chocolate:

“I recently tried a few of Equal Exchange’s chocolate bars, and while I could easily enjoy every one of them in a single sitting, their 88% cacao Extreme Dark completely won me over. I love intense dark chocolate, but this one impressed me with how creamy it is—it melts effortlessly and delivers a rich, bold cocoa flavor that’s perfectly balanced. It’s not too sweet, letting the deep, complex notes shine without any chalky or dry finish.”

Handbags

Price Range: $15–$225

Your loved one won’t be shy to flawlessly flaunt their fair trade tote from Carry Courage knowing it supports sustainable development programs for Tibetan artisan communities. There’s no better way to advocate for fair wages than with their cork fabric and organic cotton ADVOCATE zippered tote.

Malia Designs also stocks handbags that don’t carry the baggage of exploitative labor. They partner with women-led artisan communities in rural Cambodia to bring conscious couture straight to customers. Their recycled sustainable handbags transform recycled plastic feed and cement bags into unique shopping opportunities.

My Personal Review of Carry Courage’s ADVOCATE Tote:

“I absolutely love the ADVOCATE Tote. Its stylish cork exterior and roomy interior make it a perfect blend of fashion and function. It’s my go-to for the farmer’s market as it holds a generous amount of fresh produce. The cork is also simple to clean, so I don’t stress if it gets a little dirty.”

Home Decor

Price Range: $12–$250

If you want your holiday gift to double as a housewarming one (no matter how long they’ve lived there), you can’t go wrong with sustainable home decor.

LIKHÂ has chic natural house decor handcrafted straight from artisan communities in the Philippines. The precious Fox Planter made from coco coir is excellent for plant and animal lovers alike.

For that boho folks in your life, check out Village Thrive, a rattan and macrame-filled shop featuring traditionally crafted treasures from local artisans in Indonesia. An Arch Rattan Jewelry Hanger is all anyone needs for their jewelry organization woes.

Gifts For Him

Price Range: $48–$699

Outerknown is out of this world, 90% of their fabrics are organic, recycled, and regenerated fibers and they were the first brand to pursue the Fair Labor Association accreditation.

Their best-selling Blanket Shirt is made from 100% organic cotton with natural tagua palm nut buttons. Soft, warm, and super versatile, it’s sure to become a wardrobe staple for years to come. The only tricky thing is trying to decide which of the 50+ different color/pattern options to purchase!

Patagonia offers more styles made in Fair Trade Certified Factories than you can shake a candy-striped stick at. Whether he’s a sweater enthusiast, ski bum, or a climber bro, you’ll find a huge array of options from this ethical old timer. The Men’s Better Sweater™ fleece made from 100% recycled polyester and dyed using a low-impact process is a sure winner, seeing as it looks every bit as nice as a fancy sweater while having the durability to withstand tough outdoor adventures.

My Personal Review of Outerknown’s Blanket Shirt:

“I absolutely love the Blanket Shirt from Outerknown…so much that I now own three of them! That might sound excessive, but I literally wear one almost every single day. It’s made from an incredibly thick, tightly woven, 100% organic cotton that’s super cozy. It’s also super sustainable with its corozo nut buttons, which means the whole thing is biodegradable.”

Gifts For Her

Price Range: $14–$370

Canadian brand tentree is one of our fair trade fashion faves, especially with (not) ugly Christmas sweaters that can be worn all winter long like the Highline Intarsia Turtleneck Sweater, which features a classic Fair Aisle pattern knit into its soft and cozy blend of recycled polyester, organic cotton, and wool.

Perhaps pair it with one of their many accessories, from winter beanies, to wool wide-brim hats for the backyard chicken mama and homestead dreamer in your life.

High function without sacrificing any fashion, prAna creates all of their sustainable dresses in a Fair Trade Certified™ Factory. The Cozy Up Pocket Dress would be our suggestion for ladies who like to look nice without sacrificing comfort. Our testers have tested other products in their Cozy Up range and speak very highly of its soft and midweight recycled fabric.

My Personal Review of tentree’s Harlow Boater Hat:

“Living on a self-sufficient homestead, I’m really digging the Harlow Boater Hat, which features a wide, fully protective brim and is made of 100% recycled wool. The wool is both warm and breathable, meaning it’s almost a year-round go-to when I’m out doing work in the garden.”

My Personal Review of prAna’s Cozy Up Pant:

“These Cozy Up Pants from prAna totally live up to their name. I’ve been living in them all spring, and they’re just perfect. The fabric is so soft and comfy, and the blend of hemp, recycled polyester, and TENCEL Lyocell makes them a little lighter than regular sweatpants, so they’re perfect for all-year wear. The elastic cuffs keep them from dragging under my heels, and because hemp is naturally antimicrobial, I can get away with multiple days in between washes.”
