MagicLinen is a Lithuanian brand known for providing high quality linen clothing, bags, accessories, bedding, and housewares. Female-founded with a mostly-female workforce, the brand’s entire supply chain is close to their home in Vilnius, Lithuania—from flax farms to fair factories. Linen is an inherently low impact fabric and the brand dons an OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certification for all items, meaning they are free from harmful substances and chemicals.

Their product packaging is certified home compostable and orders are shipped in FSC-certified boxes. They repurpose leftover textile waste into accessories such as totes and festive decorations and they also accept customized purchases made-to-order. They also donate and volunteer well above the call of duty, for a wide range of charitable causes. Magic Linen has been awarded our Top Rating within the bedding category.

About MagicLinen

Founded by Vita Murauskiene in 2016 and family-run in Vilnius, Lithuania, MagicLinen began as a passion project for Vita, who associated linen with special occasions since her childhood. Her grandmother was often fussing over table linen just before big family gatherings, and there was always a magical feeling that something special was about to happen when Gran’s linens were out. When it was time to redecorate her own family’s home, Vita wanted to reintroduce that feeling. The absence of brands offering more modern linen basics with extensive color choices was frustrating, and from there MagicLinen was born. Today, Vita has a whole team of experts behind her, working with passion to create products that elevate the effortless, natural beauty of linen.

Rating Summary

Nature & Animals

Products are made from OEKO-TEX certified, 100% European flax—a natural and renewable fiber. Some products (e.g., bedding) are blended with OEKO-TEX certified cotton. Buttons, threads, and zippers make up just ~1% of finished products and are certified OEKO-TEX by their third-party suppliers. Buttons are made from natural materials that include coconut, shell, and Corozo nut, and zippers in the NATULON® series are made of recycled materials and sourced from local Lithuanian suppliers. Black-out curtains and shower curtains include a polyester lining.

The brand features inherently low water usage as linen uses 60% less water than cotton during cultivation. They soften finished products with stone rather than using water on the textile roll, to reduce water use. No outright tracking or disclosure is available for water. Likewise, there is no clear statement on biodiversity, protective measures taken, cotton sourcing, or chemical tracking and targets. That said, all products are OEKO-TEX certified, which tests chemical use and linen inherently requires less pesticides than cotton. The brand uses ecological, certified softeners and waterless and chemical-free stonewashing. Magic Linen is a vegan brand with no animal-based materials used.

MagicLinen uses 100% corn starch inner packaging that is certified for home composting and FSC-certified cardboard boxes as outer packaging. Textile waste is repurposed into accessories that can be shopped via a Zero Waste Collection on their website. Small scraps are used for clothing labels and medium-sized remnants sold on the website. Returns are donated to charity. They also produce in small batches and some products are made-to-order. They return empty fabric rolls for reuse. In 2024, they saved over 3,000 meters of fabric by repurposing it into other products but this is the extent of their waste tracking. Circularity is addressed somewhat, as 100% natural fibers and timeless designs indicate commitment to trend-defying products which are compostable and biodegradable at end-of-life. Fabric scraps and offcuts are repurposed.

The brand maintains local production to help reduce CO2 emissions. Some products are pre-shipped to the closest warehouse and they utilize consolidated shipping methods to a US warehouse, rather than shipping individual items globally. Packaging is optimized to reduce size. Emissions and energy use is not publicly tracked or disclosed; however, MagicLinen optimizes production through batch sewing to reduce electricity, LED lighting in both production house and office, and they upgrade to energy efficient equipment and machinery when available.

Communities & Wellbeing

Products are made in-house by a team of 20 seamstresses who receive fair wages ~35% the national minimum (which are regularly assessed to ensure salaries are still sufficient). No third party certifications are available for the workforce due to the small nature of the business operation. The brand’s statements and actions taken—like employment opportunities and support for people with disabilities—demonstrate attention to employee welfare. Every employee receives health insurance (which is not mandatory under Lithuanian law, so this is above legal minimum,) which also covers wellness perks like sports activities, psychological support, massages, and more. MagicLinen also provides additional support to employees with disabilities, for which they currently have 3 disabled employees, and flexible working environments (such as work from home options for single mothers.) The company also has a performance-based bonus system making employees eligible to receive two additional monthly salaries per year. Each employee also receives a learning budget for courses, conferences, or educational development of their choice.

The supply chain is based in Lithuania, and all production is carried out locally in the suburban area of the same city where they operate from so their leadership team can regularly check in and maintain personal relationships with their team. For their broader supply chain, no disclosure is made of formal Code of Conduct, Human Rights, or Modern Slavery policies, but the brand maintains close fabric supplier relationships and visits them in person each year to audit.

The brand is committed to an inclusive and diverse work environment, empowering women who make up most of their team (100% in production, 87% in office) along with people of different backgrounds or disabilities. The brand is female-founded, female-led, uses diverse models, and includes disabled seamstresses on the production floor. Their OEKO-TEX certification ensures the end products are free from harmful substances. A reasonable privacy policy is in place.

Values & Governance

MagicLinen is a small female-operated business with 22 fulltime employees. Due to their small size, there is no annual sustainability report however sustainability updates are given via their blog. The company has no history of false marketing or greenwashing accusations.

MagicLinen donates products and funds to various charitable organizations and supports local community initiatives with sponsorship and employee volunteering and mentoring. Further, the brand also creates their own initiatives e.g., the team spent a day making candles for Ukraine, volunteering at a local animal shelter, planting 5,000 spruce trees in the suburbs of Vilnius, and distributing food to people with disabilities and low-income individuals. Products unfit for resale are donated, such as bedding which goes to Cornerstone Community Outreach (18 sets donated so far in 2025). Additionally, MagicLinen sponsors the WOW University project “Future Heroes,” which supports young girls from underrepresented communities with educational opportunities.

Review Summary From Other Customers

Pros

  • Exceptionally high quality, soft linen, with beautiful colors and craftsmanship—customers overwhelmingly remark on breathability, softness, comfort, colorways, precise tailoring, and linen becoming increasingly soft after washing.
  • Responsive and supportive global customer service—Etsy reviews consistently note fast replies and smooth shipping from Lithuania to the U.S., with helpful support and communications when needed.
  • Extensive product selection—beyond MagicLinen’s apparel and bedding, customers also love the brand’s robes, blankets, throws, and home items—and appreciate that many products are available in custom sizes and tailoring.

Cons

  • Due to MagicLinen’s high-end European flax and extensive color options, the cost of their products might be prohibitive for some shoppers.
  • Return shipping cost—returns/exchanges are accepted within 30 days, but international buyers (for example, those in the USA) must pay for return shipping.
  • Some note that certain relaxed-fit styles run a little large so the advice is to size down if you’re in between sizes.
