Whether you’re trying to curate a minimalist men’s wardrobe or just want quality clothing that’s better made, then breathable, durable men’s organic clothing is a no-brainer.

Swap flimsy synthetics (that won’t last a season, except in landfills), for pieces made from organic fibers. They benefit the environment, your wallet, and your wardrobe.

So to that end, we’ve curated our favorite men’s shirts, shorts, shackets, and more, just for you. And they’re made by brands that not only priotitize certified organic materials but also low-impact dyes and ethical labor.

We’re also soon to roll out our new Brand Rating System which will look at a much broader range of eco-related criteria, like climate impact, chemical use, and green business practices. This will help us ensure we’re only spotlighting the very best clothing brands (and all other brands). You can learn more about it here.

We independently research all featured brands and we ask them to confirm their claims. In many cases we personally review recommended products. This post contains affiliate links which means we may earn a commission if you buy something. Learn more here.

Organic Men’s Clothing We Love Wearing

From personal experience, we don’t have to ask ASKET to provide exceptional, traceable, and comfortable organic cotton menswear, they already have it (and we’ve been wearing it for years now!).

After donning their clothing for several months; elegant, premium, earthy—this is how we describe Frank And Oak’s timeless collection of menswear.

Taylor Stitch takes a refined approach and elevates it further with basics, overcoats, bottoms, and accessories. All can be recycled with the brand when they reach the end of their life (which, in our personal experience, won’t be for a very long time, thanks to their superb durability).

My Personal Review of Frank & Oak’s Corduroy Shirt:

“I own a few items from this brand but my favorite one has to be their Corduroy Shirt. It’s got that laid-back, rugged look that works for me, and my mostly semi-informal lifestyle. The fabric feels sturdy sort of mid-weight, so whatever I’m doing I’m pretty confident that it will hold up. Overall, I really appreciate this brand, generally aligns with my earth fashion sense.”

“I own a few of their pieces but am especially fond of The Jack in Indigo Oxford. This dark wash denim shirt can effortlessly be dressed up with a blazer or dressed down, making a go-to grab when I don’t have time (or will) to think about what to wear.

I also tested out the Democratic Foundation Pant and found it’s the perfect workhorse (or play horse?) pant. With the business-casual look of a chino, combined with the chino style’s original military-intended durability and moveability, these 100% organic cotton pants are good for just about any occasion, including being comfortable enough for wearing all day at my desk.”

We’ve long been out(er)spoken about Outerknown as one of the premier sustainable men’s activewear brands.

And beyond activewear, they also make t-shirts, sweatpants, sweaters, henleys, hoodies, and more.

Like their ultra-cozy yet classy Shelter Waffle Henley, featuring a luxurious and biodegradable blend of 70% wool and 30% recycled cashmere. We love the henley sweater style combo, as it makes for easy layering when a base sweater is just too bulky.

Outerknown is working to help the planet even more with its Sustainable Roadmap. Some initiatives include investing in circular solutions, better labor practices, and the Outerworn catalog of pre-loved pieces.

Inclusivity:

Sizes run XS–XL and bottoms ranging between 28–46”.

My Personal Review of Outerknown’s Blanket Shirt:

“This shirt is hands-down one of my all-time faves. It’s made from tightly woven, ultra-thick, 100% organic cotton, and even the corozo nut buttons are biodegradable. Unlike regular flannel, it’s super durable and doesn’t pill. I had no idea flannel could be this comfy—I’ve literally got three of them now because these are my go-to when I need an extra layer!”

My Personal Review of The Classic T-Shirt Company’s Men’s Short Sleeve V-Neck:

“The Short Sleeve V Neck is a lightweight option made of super-soft combed fabric. In fact, it’s one of the softest shirts I own! Plus, I love that it’s ring-spun and pre-shrunk, so I can wash it without worrying if it will fade, shrink, or get misshapen. After wearing it for over a year, it still looks practically brand new. The cut is also perfect, drapes really well, not too tight, not too loose. It’s one of my go-to tees for all occasions.”

My Personal Review of Neem London’s Button Down Shirt:

“A staple in my closet is the Regenerative Cotton Sky Modern Button Down Shirt. A classy professional button down built of 100% Regenerative Organic Certified™ cotton, as far as I know this is the most sustainable cotton you can get.

It’s a game-changer in my smart casual repertoire. It drapes comfortably, has enough room in the arms without feeling restrictive. The fabric is super soft, but its the design which I really love, for work meetings and Sunday brunches, birthday parties, I wear it to most occasions. And I’m one of those guys who tends to wear the same thing over and over if I really love it.”

“I love the versatility of the Moonwake 1/4 Zip Pullover. Made from 80% organic cotton and 20% recycled polyester, it gets the best of both fabrics, making it lightweight, warm, and moisture-wicking. I especially appreciate the versatility in its stylish appearance, making it an ideal trail-to-town layer.

Another really versatile Toad&Co top I own is the Ponderosa Long Sleeve Henley. It’s made from a blend of cotton and LENZING™ Modal, so it’s got a really comfy silky feel and the ribbed design helps quite a bit with breathability, so if I’m hot or cold (exercizing in it or just walking around in winter!) it seems to moderate fluctuating temperatures quite well.”
