We’re all for ingredients that nourish, protect, smooth, and soothe our skin but toxic chemicals make our eyes water, so we’re showing the door to formaldehyde, parabens, synthetic fragrances, and other ingredients to avoid in skincare.

The skin around our eyes is especially delicate, so we’re extra careful to only use (and spotlight) natural eye creams made with organic formulas and ingredients.

Fortunately, there are a growing number of brands that see eye to eye with us on that. And they not only use safe ingredients that are backed by relevant certifications but also ethical sourcing and low-waste packaging.

In the coming months, we’ll be seeking out more brands using our new Brand Rating System. This new system expands our beauty assessment to a much broader range of criteria, like chemical use, biodiversity impacts, and carbon reduction action. To learn more about this new methodology, see here.

We independently research all featured brands, and we ask them to confirm their claims. In many cases we personally review recommended products. This post contains affiliate links which means we may earn a commission if you buy something. We explain this further in our Terms of Use.

Organic Eye Creams We Use Everyday

Rise and shine with Shine Skincare Co’s peptide eye cream. We generally applied this in the morning and found it to be one of the most effective for dark circles and puffiness. It’s packed with natural ingredients and each purchase helps support domestic abuse charity WEAVE.

We love the handmade-in-Denver all-natural eye cream from Erleia. Using PETA-certified cruelty-free ingredients, this is our go-to night eye cream and with it’s slightly greasy texture, it absorbs really well.

Shine Skincare Co’s Eye Cream

Price Range: $32

We’re big fans of Californian brand Shine Skincare Co’s range of all-natural, performance skincare products, and the Peptide + Caffeine Eye Cream in a reusable tin has us positively buzzing.

It’s packed with nourishing natural ingredients, including jojoba oil, evening primrose oil, goji berry extract, carrot seed oil, hyaluronic acid, and coffee extract.

About Shine Skincare Co

Shine Skincare Co is here “to help you cultivate self love through self care”. Founder Kathleen spent several years researching the most effective natural ingredients and turning them into sustainable skincare products we can feel good about.

Everything is packaged and shipped using low-waste materials, and each purchase helps support the non-profit WEAVE and its work to support survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. Although not added directly, some ingredients Kathleen uses contain a small percentage of ethically sourced palm oil.

My Personal Review of Shine Skincare’s Youth Serum:

“I’m not exaggerating when I say Shine’s Peptide + Caffeine Eye Cream has become my all-time favorite skin care product—and yes, the DELIGHTFUL subtle scent of coffee has something to do with it. Why coffee? Because it turns out it’s not just for your morning cup of Joe but can help reduce puffiness and under-eye bags, making it an essential part of my morning routine. It’s also the best natural dark circle eye cream I’ve found to date, and it really does lighten mine in the morning.”

One Love Organics

One Love Organics’ Eye Cream

Price Range: $24–$49

For all the smoothing, firming, and hydrating qualities you need from an eye cream sans chemicals, One Love Organics’ Botanical E Eye Balm has you (or rather your delicate eye area) covered. Suitable for all skin types, it’s made with ingredients like organic shea butter and antioxidant seaweed, most of which are certified organic.

If you’re looking for an organic under-eye cream, they also offer the Love + Eyebright serum, which is a cooling formula for soothing tired eyes.

About One Love Organics

One Love Organics founder Suzanne LaRoux blends her passion for herbalism and aromatherapy with her father’s background in pharmacology to create a sustainable beauty brand that offers clean, green, and effective cosmetics.

Their PETA-certified cruelty-free products are made with high-quality natural and organic ingredients that are dermatologically tested and safe for sensitive skin. The magic happens at their own ECOCERT-certified laboratory in Georgia, and OLO is also a Green America certified-Gold business.

My Personal Review of One Love Organics’ Botanical E Eye Balm & Love + Eyebright Serum:

“One Love Organics’ Botanical E Eye Balm is perfect for my delicate eye skin. It features moisturizing organic shea butter as the main base, which means it’s a fairly thick formula and doesn’t absorb immediately. For that reason, I prefer to use this eye cream right before bed so it can hydrate and lighten my under-eye area as I sleep.

I also tested the rollerball eye serum and loved how lightweight and cooling it is. I also really like the rollerball container, both because it leads to a mess-free application when I can’t necessarily get the product on my hands and because it’s the perfect leak-free compact container for air travel.”

Butter Me Up Organics’ Eye Cream

Price Range: $22–$30

Another eye cream we’ve had the pleasure of using is the Caffeinated Under Eye Balm from Butter Me Up Organics.

It’s made from 100% organic ingredients, including avocado oil, sweet almond oil, hemp seed oil, carrot seed essential oil, lavender essential oil, and shade-grown coffee. Sounds good enough to eat? That’s because the Butter Me Up motto is “Don’t put anything on your body that you wouldn’t put in it.”

Butter Me Up Organics also offers a Caffeinated Under Eye Serum with roller ball application and the Organic Face & Eye Serum, an all round wonder serum formulated to help with a range of concerns, dark circles and puffiness included. The latter contains sea buckthorn oil, coconut oil, vitamin e oil, and frankincense essential oil for a plant-powered performance.

About Butter Me Up Organics

A one-stop shop for organic and eco-friendly toiletries, this California-based brand is a bath and beauty care specialist. Their ingredients are ethically and sustainably sourced, and all their products are certified cruelty-free.

Committed to minimizing plastic use, they house their products in glass, metal, or cardboard. Shipping is 100% plastic-free.

My Personal Review of Butter Me Up Organics’ Under-Eye Balm:

“I officially joined the 30s club this year and felt I should probably start paying attention to those fine lines around my eyes. This balm has been brilliant for that, and I tend to apply it each morning as soon as I wake up. The only downside is that the formula is pretty thick and solid, which makes it a bit tricky to get out of the container. But that also means a little goes a long way, so a quick swipe usually does the trick.”

100% Pure’s Eye Cream

Price Range: $29–$52

100% Pure is one of our favorite sustainable make-up brands, we’ve used a ton of their products over the years. But they also offer skincare products, including three eye creams and their Multi-Vitamin + Antioxidants PM Eye Treatment.

If you need something for puffiness (because who doesn’t cry themselves to sleep once in a while these days?), their Coffee Bean Caffeine Eye Cream helps tackle puffiness and dark circles thanks to blood circulation-boosting caffeine from coffee and green tea. It’s also packed with antioxidants, vitamins and skin-nourishing ingredients, including rosehip oil and vanilla.

And according to independent clinical trials, it’s also one of the most effective natural eye creams for fine lines.

About 100% Pure

True to their name, 100% Pure is committed to non-toxic, clean beauty, and skincare products. We’re talking naturally derived pigments from things like cocoa, fruit, tea, and vegetables, high-quality plant oils, vitamins, and essential oils.

All products are vegan and cruelty-free, and they further show their love for animals and the planet by donating a bowl of vegan dog food for every order or planting a tree.

Harnessing the efficacy of botanicals, the Under Eye Elixir from Moonrise Creek is made with herbal-infused almond oil, pomegranate oil, mullein oil, grapefruit seed extract, and a bespoke essential oil blend that will “tone, brighten, hydrate, tighten & reduce puffiness”. The vegan formula comes housed in an easy-to-apply glass roller bottle.

Moonrise Creek also offers a Botanical Eye Treatment made with plant oils, including evening primrose and grapeseed oil. It’s best applied overnight but can be used during the day too.
