We’re putting human-centered stuff on paws because we’ve gone doggone crazy about eco-friendly dog beds.
Happily, we’re not the only ones wanting to provide a sustainable place for our pups to curl up and adorably bark mid-dream.
Dog beds can be especially high impact, since, as most dog owners know, they get destroyed—a lot—so durable beds with better (i.e. non-landfill) end-of-life outcomes are key. So for this roundup, we focused on brands that use more responsible, non-toxic materials, have some focus on green business practices, and are community-focused.
It’s worth mentioning that going forward we’ll be using a new Brand Rating System which will extend our consideration set to many more eco-related. These will include things like carbon commitments, climate impact and customer (or in this case pupper) safety. You can learn more about this here.
We independently research all featured brands and we ask them to confirm their claims. In many cases we personally review recommended products. This post contains affiliate links which means we may earn a commission if you buy something. Learn more here.

West Paw
West Paw’s Dog Beds
West Paw offers a tail-wagging selection of low-profile dog beds, suitable for young and old dogs alike.
Both the Heyday and Big Sky Nap cushion beds feature an OEKO-TEX 100 certified IntelliLoft® fill made from recycled plastic bottles. The Big Sky Blanket is for pups who prefer less cushion, with faux suede on one side and fleece fabric.
Between available replacement parts and being machine washable, the beds are designed to last many dog years.
About West Paw
This family-owned and operated Certified B Corp is based in Bozeman, MT (USA) where most products are made.
As a founding member of the Pet Sustainability Coalition, they lead by example by using recycled materials and offering a pet toy recycling program so their Zogoflex® toys can play fetch just like your dog—over and over.
They also give back to their local community, whether by donating towards dog parks or volunteering through Bozeman’s Rotary Club to provide home repairs to those in need.
Molly Mutt
Molly Mutt’s Dog Beds
Molly Mutt promises all their “the dog beds dogs love™”.
Offering something different, their dog beds are really just shells that can be filled with clothes or pillows from home. Wondering what to do with old clothes? Wonder no more!
If you don’t want to DIY fill the dog bed, you can instead order a natural wool-filled insert. Additionally, they also offer the option to add a water-resistant liner (though it’s the least eco-friendly of the options).
Regardless of which option you choose, you’ll get a dog bed made from 100% cotton canvas that’s durable, breathable, washable, and pre-shrunk.
Add extra protection of longevity with a cotton canvas or recycled denim duvet cover. To match any home and any dog’s personality, there are dozens of patterns to choose from.
They also sell a compatible elevated dog bed frame.
About Molly Mutt
Molly Mutt’s story began with a young woman, three dirty dogs, and too many trips to the laundromat to clean dirty dog beds. Co-founder Molly ran out of steam—so she created dog bed duvet covers.
In addition to sustainable dog beds, they sell car seat covers and protective padding for crates. Everything is designed in Oakland, California, where their wool inserts are made as well.
The cotton canvas dog bed duvets, stuff sacks, armor, and pillow packs are Made in China which is responsibly run and inspected for compliance, according to Molly. The recycled denim duvet covers are made in Guatemala.
Brentwood Home
Brentwood Home’s Dog Beds
The dog beds made in California by Brentwood Home are positively snoozy. They are easy to clean, waterproof, and look beautiful in any home.
They currently have two different styles (one with more orthopedic support) made of high quality and non-toxic materials including CertiPUR-US supportive foam. While they’re built to hold up against digging and bed-wrestling, the safe materials won’t present any major issues if (or rather when) your precious pup decides to chew on it.
The furniture-grade cover is durable and removable for easy washing. Replacement covers are also available for purchase, so you don’t need to throw away the whole bed because of a few holes.
About Brentwood Home
Brentwood Home makes sustainable mattresses for humans, too.
They were one of the first brands to revolutionize how we sleep, focusing on organic, vegan, and natural materials. Their hybrid latex mattress, for instance, is made from recycled water bottles and upcycled denim.
Innovating nap time for huskies and humans alike.
Brentwood plant three trees for every mattress sold through their partnership with the National Forest Foundation and donate relief beds for people who have experience disasters or poverty.
Bean Products
Bean Products’ Dog Beds
Bean Products offer two rectangular dog cushions. Both bear a zippered removable hemp exterior but the interiors are different.
One contains organic latex that’s OEKO-TEX Class 1 certified while the other contains shredded CertiPUR foam that’s free of chemical flame retardants, formaldehyde, ozone depleters, and heavy metals.
Both of these eco dog beds are non-off-gassing and come in XXS-XXL sizes to “accommodate Chihuahuas to Mastiffs”.
About Bean Products
All products are USA-made and the majority of materials are sourced there too.
Once your dog is settled down for a nap, join them with a little downward dog yourself using yoga props from Bean Products who make more sustainable products for humans too.
Hemp Organic Life
Hemp Organic Life’s Dog Beds
Hemp Organic Life makes eco-friendly pet beds for small and large dogs (and cats).
There are a few different styles and sizes, but a few things remain consistent: the biodegradable beds are made from a combination of hemp fabric, wool, and non-dyed linen fabric.
Some have an additional hemp filler made of organically grown hemp.
At well under $100, these affordable dog beds are available for any budget.
About Hemp Organic Life
