Beyond softness, a baby’s sensitive skin is porous, somewhat dry, and more susceptible to infection than ours—it is an organ being exposed to the world for the first time, after all.
So while it builds up resilience, it needs a little extra protection, in the form of safe organic baby skincare products.
So that’s what we’ve curated in this roundup, a list of healthy options that are made by brands that not only use the safest ingredients that are backed by relevant certifications but also ethical sourcing and low-impact packaging.
We’ll also soon be employing our new Brand Rating System over the upcoming months. This will examine brands across a much more in-depth array of sustainability-related criteria—including chemical use, product safety, and climate impact—which you can learn more about here.
We independently research all featured brands and we ask them to confirm their claims. In many cases we personally review recommended products. This post contains affiliate links which means we may earn a commission if you buy something. Learn more here.

Earth Mama Organics
Earth Mama Organics’ Baby Skincare Products
Price Range: $4–$36
Using gentle herbal formulas designed for the most sensitive skin, Earth Mama Organics’ products contain no synthetic fragrances, antibacterial chemicals, artificial preservatives, phthalates, parabens, or harsh sulfates.
Instead, you’ll find certified organic ingredients like shea butter, jojoba seed oil, and calendula flower extract. Like in their essential Organic Diaper Balm, a staple in every parent’s diaper bag. It not only soothes tender tooshies but doubles as a skin salve too.
Other products in the range include the baby lotion for eczema, Castile baby wash, calming lavender lotion, face nose and cheek balm, baby oil, and SPF 40 baby sunscreen. The National Eczema Association has awarded the Seal of Acceptance to Earth Mama’s Eczema Cream and Uber-Sensitive Mineral Sunscreen.
About Earth Mama Organics
Earth Mama Organics believes in total transparency. Every single ingredient in the range of baby, pregnancy, postpartum, and breastfeeding ranges is listed on Earth Mama labels, and they’re either certified to the National Organic Program (NOP) or the NSF/ANSI 305 organic standards by Oregon Tilth. If there’s no organic option available, Earth Mama makes sure it’s safe. Most products do use organic beeswax, and we’re unclear on their palm oil policy.
They partner with a range of community organizations such as Black Maternal Health Week, PUSH Pregnancy Stillbirth Initiative, Baby2Baby, and they also work with RePurpose to ensure to remove as much plastic from nature as used by our company, as per their Plastic Neutral promise.
Butter Me Up Organics
Butter Me Up Organic’s Baby Skincare Range
Price Range: $10–$25
Oh, baby! Butter Me Up Organics deserves a place near the changing table. You’ll find all the essentials: talc-free baby powder, diaper cream, soothing baby bath products (bath tea and bombs), diaper changing spray, and baby oil.
Many products feature a skin-supporting and blend of organic oils and butters (shea, mango, coconut, avocado, olive, and jojoba). These almost edible skincare ingredients can also be used in several ways. The Baby Butt Diaper Cream, for instance, is also perfect for boo-boos (alongside their whimsically named Boo Boo b Gone) and one of the best natural baby skincare products for eczema.
They are not only organic-equivalent, but use only the purest (often fair trade) ingredients. Everything is cruelty-free, but there are some non-vegan products made with beeswax and/or organic milk.
About Butter Me Up Organics
Butter Me Up Organics is a modern-day apothecary run by Jillian, who spent three years devouring information about safety, certifications, quality, and natural ingredients that support a healthy body and planet. All that time paid off, as Jillian receives countless emails raving about her products which have been nothing short of a miracle for treating a child’s eczema, among other things.
Every earth-friendly recipe is her own, and all products are made in small batches in a California-based studio—from the best organic baby cream to organic face creams for mom and dad.
Zero waste since day one, she uses paperboard, tin, and glass for product housing and recycled shipping materials printed with soy inks.
Bubbsi
Bubbsi’s Skincare Products
Price Range: $22–$178
Bubbsi offers some of the best skin care products for babies and baby bath products to make bath time more fun.
Their products come in cute animal-shaped food-grade silicone bottles that are 100% refillable using their lower waste refill pouches. One refill will fill four “bubbs” which means 40% less money and 75% less packaging. If you already have bottles of your own, start with refill pouches for a more zero waste baby.
In addition to theirorganic baby cream—a whipped coconut oil formula that’s 98% natural but for a few safe synthetic ingredients—you’ll find coconut oil balm, dry skin, and scalp starter sets, kiddo and organic baby skin care sets.
About Bubbsi
Sweta is the mom behind the brand. Even with her beauty industry experience, she found herself struggling to find something suitable for her daughter when she developed eczema. The answer to her organic coconut oil—which eventually led her to create Bubbsi and offer her best natural baby lotion for eczema to other moms and their bubs.
Organic cold-pressed coconut oil is now the number one or two ingredient in every product, combined with other primarily Ecocert COSMOS-certified organic or natural ingredients. Ingredients you’ll never see include synthetic dyes and fragrances, parabens, phthalates, sulfates, mineral oils, harsh chemicals, potential carcinogens and endocrine disruptors, common natural irritants, and allergens. All products, like their organic baby shampoo, have been clinically tested for safety by an independent lab under the review of a pediatrician and dermatologist.
Waxelene
Waxelene’s Skincare Products for Baby
Price Range: $25–$175
Waxelene provides a shoulder for new parents to lean on when bringing a little one home from the hospital. All products are baby-safe (obviously), hypoallergenic, and certified organic, using only four or five ingredients.
Their Calming Ointment is a new parent must-have. By combining beeswax and organic soy oil with soothing organic lavender, it soothes your baby’s mood as much as their skin. Lavender is also one of the top essential oils specifically recommended for black and melanin-rich skin.
While the Multi-Purpose Ointment—which includes a patented waterproof barrier preventing clogged pores—can come in a plastic tube, you can also opt for a glass jar.
About Waxelene
Like us, Waxelene thinks additives, chemical preservatives, and petroleum derivatives are yucky. That’s why this San Francisco-based company started with a petroleum jelly alternative ointment.
While their organic baby skincare products are no longer made in the USA, many of their products are backed up by the USDA Organic certification. They’re also made using a patented aeration process, which transforms the best plant-based ingredients into breathable botanical ointments.
While their packaging isn’t entirely zero-waste, it is recyclable, and 2% of Waxelene sales are allocated to remove ocean-bound plastic from the environment.
