Betterway’s toilet paper and paper towels are made exclusively from 100% FSC-certified bamboo that is organically grown. Bamboo grows quickly without the need for irrigation, helping to conserve water. The Classic White range is whitened using an elemental chlorine-free (ECF) process, which produces fewer harmful byproducts than methods using elemental chlorine gas. The Natural Brown range skips the paper whitening process entirely, further reducing water and chemical use. Betterway also conducts annual lab tests to ensure its products are free from PFAS and other “forever chemicals.”

Natural Brown Bamboo Double Rolls

I’ve been using the Natural Brown Bamboo Double Rolls for a couple of weeks now, and they’re honestly the best balance I’ve found. The sheets are strong and durable, so you don’t feel like you need half the roll at once (especially if paired with a bidet as I use), but they’re still thin enough to be septic safe. That’s a big deal for me, because I grew up with those awful “septic safe” papers that fell apart the second you touched them. This feels nothing like that. The unbleached bamboo is smooth, comfortable, and sans any chemical softeners.

Classic White Paper Towels

I’m usually on a mission to minimize paper towel use, but there are times—like wiping excess grease out of my cast iron pan—when reusables just don’t do the trick. That’s when these bamboo paper towels shine. They hold together better than many other eco options I’ve tried , as in, they don’t shred or get a big hole at the first swipe. I love that they don’t leave weird fibers behind in my pans either, and when things get really greasy, a single sheet folded over does what two conventional ones sometimes can’t.
