Who would have thought that something as tiny as a flaxseed could have such a big impact on the fashion industry? Linen brings big benefits, especially when it comes to plus size linen outfits.

Aside from its elegant and flattering fit, the flax plant requires minimal inputs (water, pesticides, fertilizers) to grow. In just over three months, the plant reaches full maturity, making it one of the fastest-growing plant fabrics.

For those reasons and more, this breathable yet durable fabric is a green go-to for homewares and sustainable plus size fashion. Which is why we’ve curated this list of brands offering everything from plus size dress outfits and tunics to baggy pants and flowy jumpsuits—while also prioritizing ethical labor and low-impact production.

But sizes aren’t the only thing seeing an expansion in this article. With our Brand Rating System we’re rating brands (who opt in) across a wide range of eco-related criteria, including things like circularity, packaging, and climate impact. Look out for rated brands on the list below and find other rated brands here (many of which offer low waste alternatives to everyday products).

We independently research all featured brands, and we ask them to confirm their claims. In many cases we personally review recommended products. This post contains affiliate links which means we may earn a commission if you buy something. We explain this further in our Terms of Use.

My Personal Review of MagicLinen’s Tunic Dress Lastres:

“I own the Tunic Dress Lastres and love how it works both dressed up and dressed down, providing so many versatile looks. In summer, it stands alone, and in the winter, I just slip a pair of black tights or leggings underneath. I went with Cinnamon, but you get to fine-tune it to your tastes in over twenty colors—like plum, black gingham, and dusty blue.”

Linenbee

Linenbee has not been rated.

Price range: $60–$150

If you’re looking to wear something that embodies sustainability and crafts(wo)manship, Linenbee is a good fit. Taking a slow fashion approach, the Latvian mother-daughter studio hand makes each piece, adhering to environmental and ethical practices in every step of the small supply chain.

You’ll stay comfy and cool year-round in their women’s plus size linen outfits: dresses, tunics, tops, bottoms, jackets, blazers, skirts, scarves, plus size linen blouses and more. They also have a smaller style selection for men (tunics, robes, kaftans, scarves), as well as home goods and accessories (tablecloths, towels, blankets, and throws). Everything is made with 100% pure European-grown linen, not only grown without chemicals but also without irrigation (using all-natural rainfall instead). It’s processed as little as possible to retain linen’s inherent properties.

Men’s plus-size garments run from S-4X. For women, XXS-3X are available, with some styles that go to 5X. They will also tailor an item to your measurements and any required modifications at no extra cost.

Eileen Fisher

Eileen Fisher has not been rated.

Price range: $78–$270

When it comes to body positivity, Eileen Fisher might be in a class of their own.

They make an extensive collection of tops, tees, tanks, cardigans, sweaters, jackets, vests, bottoms, dresses, skirts, jumpsuits, and more. We especially love their cropped and comfy crowd pleaser, the plus-size linen overalls which come in the form of their Organic Cotton Linen Ticking Stripe Jumpsuit.

Eileen Fisher uses organic linen, often blended with GOTS-certified organic cotton or TENCEL™ lyocell to give it a softer, more wrinkle-resistant drape. Due to the limited amount of organic linen in Europe, most of EF’s linen comes from a 2,000-acre organic farm in China. This member of the Ethical Trading Initiative (ETI) and Fair Factories Clearinghouse is dedicated to creating a transparent supply chain, so they share the locations of all their suppliers.

Eileen Fisher is a Certified B Corp who has a set of science-based targets for climate action. They embrace circularity, designing each garment for long life and easy repairs. Their Renew program accepts gently used Eileen Fisher garments to be resold, while Waste No More transforms damaged-beyond-repair garments into new pieces.

XXS-3X sizing is what you’ll find.

Len.Ok

Len.Ok has not been rated.

Price Range: $30–$188

Len.Ok is all about the love of linen, which they use in garments, bags, bed linen, curtains, aprons, and table linens. For casual plus size outfits, their affordable linen clothing range includes dresses, tunics, skirts, tops, pants, shorts, jumpsuits, pajamas, and robes. If you’re looking for cheap linen pants, you can pick up a pair of Linen Culottes for around $50 with 31 colors to choose from.

Everything from Len.Ok is made with pure European-grown, OEKO-TEX-certified linen. All items are enzyme-treated to create a super soft texture. Garments and home textile products are made in-house in their European studio. Though their brand imagery would not suggest it, most garments are available in XS-XXXL sizing.

Linen Handmade Studio

Linen Handmade Studio has not been rated.

Price range: $48–$150

Imagine lying on a white-sand beach in linen. That’s what Linen Handmade Studio is also imagining—which is why they make gorgeous, flowy resort wear (that can be worn at the home “resort,” too).

The brand’s founder, Laura, calls a picture-perfect Lithuanian seaside village “home.” It’s where she creates her fashionable plus size outfits, including plus size linen dresses, skirts, bottoms, jackets, shorts, tops, and jumpsuits. From the Linen Full Circle Skirt to linen jumpsuits, each style is designed to embrace femininity and suit “conscious summer chasers” of every size.

Laura only sources local, 100% European linen that’s OEKO-TEX-certified to be free of dangerous chemicals. With skills passed down from her seamstress mother, Laura designs many of the products herself. Once the brand expanded, she recruited her mother, as well as some other seamstresses. Each style is made in a studio in Klaipeda, Lithuania.

The plus-size flax linen clothing is shipped straight from the supplier and if you purchase through Etsy, carbon offsets compensate for the shipping footprint. Linen Handmade Studio is woman-owned and provides exact measurements in each product description. Sizes are offered two ways: 2-18 for US customers or S-XL for international ones (so unfortunately not plus-size outside the US).

Pyne & Smith

Pyne & Smith has not been rated.

Price range: $127–$245

Pyne & Smith began with a love of both the English countryside and California’s natural splendors. They came together to inspire a range of linen clothing to choose from that suit both ends of the climate spectrum. Like their Model No.17 Full Length Linen Tea Dress, which embodies one of the best inventions since sliced bread: a dress with pockets.

They also have plus size linen pants outfits, skirts, overalls, blouses, and trousers. Every piece sold by Pyne & Smith is made with 100% European-grown linen that’s REACH-certified. And all pieces are made by skilled seamstresses in a small production studio in Los Angeles, California. All employees are LA locals and supported by livable, fair wages.

While raw materials are flown from Europe to California to be processed (not as green as sea freight), any minimal waste that’s generated is responsibly recycled through a local textile recycling center. The shredded material may end up in the air again—as airplane seat coverings! At the manufacturing stage, everything is processed in small batches so overproduction waste is kept at a minimum.

All styles run from XS-3X. The XL and 2X sizes were recently redesigned to be more curve-friendly. By fit-testing customers and models and working with a plus-size pattern developer, this woman-owned company ensures they fit real body shapes, too.

Sotela

Sotela has not been rated.

Price range: $79–$269

For casual plus size linen outfits made in the USA, Sotela’s inclusive hand made collection is hard to beat. This Latina-owned brand recognizes that whether we’re gaining or losing weight, our bodies change constantly. Founder Hanna wanted to create flexible clothing that reflects those natural changes—and doesn’t result in a closet overhaul when they happen.

Sotela focuses on radical inclusivity, embodied in their linen clothing for plus-size, petite size, and every size in between. You’ll find pants, tops, dresses, jumpsuits, outerwear, and accessories for every occasion.

While you’ll find organic cotton, TENCEL lyocell, recycled cotton, or hemp in some garments, in most cases, theirs is a lyocell-linen blend that provides a beautiful drape. Sotela works with a local LA dye house using non-toxic dyes. We’re not sure where Sotela sources its linen, but many fabrics come from Canadian suppliers or, in the case of their lyocell fabric, China. Every garment is handmade in their Los Angeles studio.

All packaging is recycled and recyclable. And not only does Sotela have sizes up to 4X, but every style is flexible enough to adapt to two sizes without sacrificing style. Every size encompasses 3”, while traditionally, each size encompasses only 1”.

Vivid Linen

Vivid Linen has not been rated.

Price Range: $59–$198

Vivid Linen has been creating beautiful plus size linen outfits for over two decades. You’ll find a varied collection of linen shirts, tops, blouses, tunics, jackets, pants, cardigans, sweaters, and tanks, all in several stylish cuts and designs.

Dress yourself in 100% natural linen that has been pre-shrunk. Focusing on quality craftsmanship, only a limited number of each design is available. Their women’s plus size women’s clothing runs from 1X-4X (US sizes 14W-28W), though these sizes are not reflected in their models.
