We can’t be (h)emphatic enough about this budding industry so here’s the bottom line: hemp underwear makes for the perfect panties that protect the planet and our patooties.
Hemp fabric has been around for thousands of years—and for good reason. It’s a high-yielding, carbon-negative regenerative crop that sequesters carbon, saves water, and can be easily grown without the use of chemicals.
Being naturally antibacterial, breathable, and hypoallergenic, hemp also keeps your nether regions feeling fresh, which is why we’re (h)emphasizing brands that are harnessing its power, along with using fair labor and responsible packaging.
Soon we’ll be using our new Brand Rating System to bum our way through 22 factors like climate impact, chemical use, and general green practices. We also paid special attention to BIPOC and female owned businesses and those already highly rated by us. To learn more about our full rating approach while weeding out the competition, go here.
And if you need some sustainable tips on what to do with old underwear, we’ve got your bottom covered there, too.
Feeling High On Organic Hemp Underwear

My Personal Review of WAMA’s Hemp Underwear For Women:
“I’ve admittedly got high expectations for hemp underwear and LOVE how durable WAMA’s unmentionables are. I’ve been wearing them for years now and they’ve yet to wear out thanks to the organic cotton-hemp blend fabric being a bit thicker than comparable brands. Everything they make for down under there is super comfortable—even the thongs—which despite thicker fabric never feel bunchy.”

Circle Creations
Price Range: $24-$125
Family-owned and Oregon-based Circle Creations is slow fashion at its finest, breaking the grass ceiling thanks to their hemp and natural fiber clothing since 1996. The brand specializes in organic underwear, menswear, and natural comfortable clothing to support a healthy lifestyle and are proud supporters of the local hemp and organic movement.
All fabrics are locally and ethically sourced, because the brand knows that what you put on your body is just as important as what you feed your body, plus they erase as much eco-impact as possible by using organic fibers, ensuring zero waste textiles, and locally making and dying it all in Oregon with low impact dyes. Everything is designed and made by mama owner Loralee.
When it comes to hemp boxers for men, we suggest their five-pack, which are five pairs of light, breathable boxers made of the company’s pioneering 53% hemp/ 44% organic cotton/ 2% spandex/ 1% tencel jersey fabric.
For women’s hemp undies, you’re ganja fall in love with their Hemp Undies Three Pair Package Deal, featuring three pairs of sweet, simple, and organic hemp underwear. While they’re trimmed with 70% Tencel/ 25% Organic Cotton/5% Lycra binding with 1/4″ clear elastic running on the inside, it’s to ensure you keep rollin’ without them bunching. We’ll be blunt: the comfort level will toke your breath away.

Proclaim
Price Range: $29
Proclaim “Yes we can-nabis” with LA-based Proclaim’s organic cotton and hemp panties, sustainably made from excess trims and fabric from the brand’s previous underwear production. The sustainable and ethical women’s label aims for zero waste in their production process, with items like organic hemp underwear helping them get there.
Just about everything is ethically manufactured and sustainably dyed in Los Angeles, and the brand also ensures ethical practices by auditing factories regularly and publishing the names and addresses of all production partners along with the Proclaim Code of Conduct.
Their women’s organic cotton and hemp briefs are made from 64% organic cotton, 28% hemp, 8% spandex, with fabric sourced locally in California and a local dye house (with responsible dyes and water practices) used for dying, which localizes supply chains and reduces the carbon footprint of the manufacturing process. Not to mention the undies are soft, breathable, and stylish in cute color choices and a range of inclusive sizes (which models to match!).
Botanical Booties
Price Range: $21–$25
It’s like being naked with Botanical Booties, whose collection of hemp and organic cotton women’s panties are about as close to being in the nude as possible. The Ohio-based Etsy star seller, Laura Anne, became determined to make ethical and sustainable underwear after watching fashion-eye-opener The True Cost and learning of fashion’s horrors.
The results? A true pot of gold by way of natural and organic undies, which are ethically handmade from 64% organic cotton, 28% hemp, and 8% lycra, and come either undyed or naturally dyed blush pink using avocado pits.
BB’s hemp underwear is available in three equally unbe-weed-ably comfy styles depending on your taste: boyshorts, bikinis, or thongs. All three cuts come buyer five-star rated as a cut above your average chonies.
Afends
Price Range: $38
Afends knows weed need real and lasting environmental change, which is why the Byron Bay-based sustainable fashion brand creates healthy and hemp-based apparel for people and the planet from seed to skin.
What began in 2006 by founders Deco and Jono off the back of a screen printing business for local punk and hardcore bands has evolved into one of Gen Z’s favorite eco-friendly and ethical labels, with much of their supply chain certified by BSCI and Fair Wear Foundation, plus most of their product line is made from lower impact materials produced with minimal waste and GHGs.
To demonstrate their commitment to Mary Jane’s magic, the brand has invested in the development of Sleepy Hollow Farm, which Afends hopes to build as the greatest hempire the world has seen with 100 acres of hemp farmland that houses a research and development facility for hemp products and regenerative farming.
By way of hemp underwear women will fall in love with, their Lolly hemp briefs are sold in 3-packs to triple the lightweight, breathable and durable bikini-style delight. Men’s hemp underwear, aptly called the THC Boxer Briefs, are 55% hemp and 45% organic Cotton, and are truly the ode to everyday blazin’ comfort. Let’s put it this way: you won’t be leaving (h)empty handed.
Nomads Hemp Wear
Price Range: $29–$35
Canadian brand Nomads Hemp Wear began completely green to the fashion game, out the back of a VW camper van over two decades ago. As pioneers of hemp fashion, their love of hemp blossomed and today they provide the most comfy and durable natural apparel available to humankind, without the need for Earth or our bodies to suffer for fashion.
Sustainability features for the brand include a commitment to eco fabrics, charitable giving by way of 10% of all profits, and a Chinese manufacturing partner carefully chosen for its environmentally friendly and fair trade labor practices.
Alongside the almost-100% hemp lingerie like bras, hemp thongs, boy shorts, and more they offer sustainable clothing. All hemp fabric is 95% hemp lyocell and a scant 5% spandex jersey for extra stretch and give. With a range of hemp bras and underwear styles available, for women we suggest their Goa Underwear, a cheeky booty short, or the Heartbreaker Tie-Dye hemp thong, both of which naturally regulate the pH and temperature of your lady bits and are antimicrobial underwear.
