Gray stuffy synthetic office attire? Going to work is often dreary enough, so let’s lighten things up (for yourself and the planet) by donning a sustainable suit to your next meeting instead.

While the majority of suits are poorly made, in unethical conditions, and from synthetic materials, there is a cohort of makers that are changing the game for work attire.

And these brands (which we’ve curated here for you) are not only prioritizing low-impact fabrics but also transparent supply chains and carbon-neutral manufacturing. All so you can be cubicle-comfortable on days other than Casual Friday—and help the planet stay that way, too.

It’s worth noting that we’re soon to roll out a new Brand Rating System to pick out the boardroom best. We’ll be using the system to reexamine brands across a more in-depth range of eco-related factors which includes considerations like circularity, climate impact, and diversity. You can read more on it here.

We independently research all featured brands and we ask them to confirm their claims. In many cases we personally review recommended products. This post contains affiliate links which means we may earn a commission if you buy something. Learn more here.

Ministry Of Supply

About Ministry of Supply

Price Range: $94–$498

Ministry of Supply lives and breathes “workleisure”. They offer everything you need to conquer the office (and everywhere else) in style, including women’s and men’s sustainable suits, blazers, pants, button-ups, tees, sweaters, and accessories.

Everything is designed for hypermobility and comfort, but the organic Velocity Merino Suit Jacket is one of their most sustainable options, with 49% merino wool.

Ministry of Supply’s Ethical & Sustainability Practices

Materials:

Vegan materials include merino wool and semi-synthetics like S.Cafe (made from recycled coffee grounds!) and bio-based polyester derived from corn and sugar cane. These are combined with GRS-certified recycled polyester and nylon, and PFC-free sustainable water repellents.

Unfortunately, some options include significant portions of virgin synthetics and viscose, so try to avoid them if possible, but at least all fabric mills bear bluesign® and/or OEKO-TEX certification.

Supply chain & labor practices:

MoS makes suits in factories across Japan, Taiwan, China, and the United States. They visit each WRAP and/or BSCI facility regularly.

Carbon commitments & green practices:

Each design undergoes rigorous ASTM and AATCC durability testing to ensure their products are built to last. You can also return unwanted or old products for resale or recycling into new fabric via Shinkong Textiles.

As a Climate Neutral Certified brand, MoS reduces its carbon footprint through solar-powered mills, sea-freight shipping, and CO2 waterless dyeing. Packaging consists of recycled cardboard and compostable poly bags.

Inclusivity:

Men’s sizes range from XS-XXXL and women’s XXS-XXXL. Men’s pants are available 28”–40″ and women’s in sizes 0–18.

About Filippa K

Price Range: $470–$2,080

Filippa K delivers fresh, professional suits for men and women alike.

Their catalog of sustainable work clothing includes blazers, suit jackets, dresses, skirts, tops, outerwear, trousers, and accessories. The Sasha Cool Wool Blazer is made from natural or recycled materials, and its fabric mill runs on solar energy and recycles water.

Filippa K’s Ethical & Sustainability Practices

Materials:

Most suits feature a mulesing-free ethical wool or GOTS-certified organic cotton outer body. They’re then lined with recycled polyester from plastic bottles and Enka viscose, locally made using Swedish tree pulp.

Supply chain & labor practices:

Clicking on any Filippa K item displays the country and the factory in which it was made. They also hold GOTS and OCS certifications and are members of the Fair Wear Foundation and the Sustainable Apparel Coalition.

Carbon commitments & green practices:

100% of Filippa K styles are fully traceable and the brands plans to reduce emissions by 50% before achieving carbon neutrality by 2050. They’re switching shipment materials to uncoated FSC-certified paper and recycled boxes.

Inclusivity:

UK chest/bust sizes 44–56 are available for men and 30–42 for women.

Eileen Fisher

Eileen Fisher has not been rated.

About Eileen Fisher

Price Range: $178–$448

Eileen Fisher will keep you comfortably professional in their sustainable women’s suits. Any one of their blazers will do, but the relaxed, boxy-fit Linen Stand Collar Jacket will keep you comfortable from 9 to 5.

They also offer sweaters, jackets, pants, jumpsuits, dresses, and accessories that can be worn in and out of the office.

Eileen Fisher’s Ethical & Sustainability Practices

Materials:

EF’s most eco suits are made of “Cotton Blend Ponte,” a wrinkle-resistant blend of organic cotton, recycled polyester, and a touch of elastane. Others in their workwear collection feature 100% silk, a viscose/silk blend, or a TENCEL™ lyocell/nylon blend—most of which are bluesign® approved.

Supply chain & labor practices:

Eileen Fisher is a Certified B Corp member of the Fair Labor Association (FLA) and Fair Factories Clearinghouse. All manufacturing partners are SA8000 compliant and adhere to the ETI ethical manufacturing base code.

Carbon commitments & green practices:

EF’s Waste No More take-back program converts returned/recycled items into new products. Eileen Fisher also uses renewable energy carbon offsets and is incorporating more regenerative-grown fabrics into future lines.

Inclusivity:

Suits are available XXS-3X.

Moss

Moss has not been rated.

About Moss

Price Range: $458–$798

Moss creates ethical men’s suits and other corporate dress code essentials like their Moss Bros Eco Suit line, which offers well-tailored organic business suits constructed from 100% linen. Otherwise, shop classic styles of tuxedos, tweed suits, kids’ suits, and more.

Moss’s Ethical & Sustainability Practices

Materials:

They use organic cotton, recycled polyester, TENCEL™, linen, wool, and some BCI cotton.

Supply chain & labor practices:

Moss works with suppliers and WRAP-certified factories worldwide (like China, India, Portugal, and Turkey). They conduct regular audits to ensure partners meet their standards regarding living wage payments, fair working conditions, and respect for employees.

They further promote workers’ rights through the Sustainable Apparel Coalition and ETI memberships.

Carbon commitments & green practices:

If you’re seeking sustainable wedding suits or one for another rare occasion, consider their Moss Hire rental program. It allows customers to wear premium pieces at a fraction of the cost.

Mantaikotai

Mantaikotai has not been rated.

About Mantaikotai

Price Range: $133–$222

Lithuanian brand Mantaikotai makes natural fiber suits in black, brown, and gray. Their catalog includes unique blazers, jumpsuits, skirts, tops, bottoms, and knit garments.

The Milan Suit comes in everything from mustard to forest green. Its 100% softened Lithuanian linen body provides perfect “laid-back Tech-CEO vibes”.

Mantaikotai’s Ethical & Sustainability Practices

Materials:

Mantaikotai specializes in OEKO-TEX certified 100% organic linen suits. Some other styles feature an 80-90% wool and polyester or silk outer with a viscose lining—but since we’re not a fan of polyester, silk, or viscose, we suggest avoiding these.

Supply chain & labor practices:

Each item is handcrafted and uses materials sourced locally in Vilnius. Owner Lina does all the sewing, her husband Justas manages the shop, and her mother Laima handles any knitting. Embodying slow fashion, each item takes around one month to produce.

Inclusivity:

Preset sizes run XS-XL, but they also offer ethical custom suits if you provide measurements.

Hangrr

Hangrr has not been rated.

About Hangrr

Price Range: $329–$449

Can’t afford a tailor but looking for a completely custom made sustainable suit?

UK-based Hangrr will make you one using AI technology to get precise measurements, reducing fabric waste and unnecessary production costs. Though they started in the UK, they now operate in 41 countries.

There are countless styles and fabric options, like the Burgundy Summer Linen Suit. The breathable design is ideal for outdoor gatherings, weddings, and other events. Pair these with any of their custom-fit dress shirts to layer underneath.

Hangrr’s Ethical & Sustainability Practices

Materials:

Hangrr’s materials vary from the sustainable (wool, linen, and jute) to the less-than-sustainable (velvet, cotton, and lycra), so try to stick to the former options when possible. A layer of canvas sits between the outer fabric and inner lining of each suit jacket.

They offer 100% vegan suit constructions, too, substituting materials accordingly.

Supply chain & labor practices:

Hangrr’s suits are made at an in-house manufacturing site. They employ their Sadbhavna Program, ensuring no overtime, child labor, safe working conditions, and employee development.

Carbon commitments & green practices:

Hangrr leverage of custom AI technology reduces fabric waste and excess production. The brand also provides alterations for 180 days and free remakes.

Inclusivity:

They only offer custom sustainable men’s suits. There are no preset size options.
